Starting at about Chapter 23, the story of The Prodigal Daughter lifts off. Was this just a cheap ploy to gain readership? The Marine band struck up Hail to the Chief for the last time. I mean, the mystery part could have been better, the action part couldn't have been better! But it was just surreal, and not in a good way, to read someone's vision of the 2000s.
