When the shark attack scene unfolded, I found myself holding my breath and completely taken in by the film. Firstly, because it was due back to the library, but it just seemed to go on and on. Our love for one another and the importance of helping others is the most important factors or our lives. I love seeing the unique beauties of other countries, experiencing different cultures and doing it with Adam. Luckily for Bethany, she is surrounded by friends, supportive parents Hunt and Dennis Quaid and two older brothers Ross Thomas, Chris Brochu. Despite this I was still interested in her story as I have been for many years, I still follow her on social media! I also think that the script writer and the director did a great job transforming this true story to a movie without sacrifice the details and doing it without exaggeration.
The family just all worked together, from the brother's concern to the dad's creativity. And I know that God's in control, that this has been a part of His plan. Almost twenty minutes out, her friends were sure she would bleed to death it is reported that she lost 60% of her blood that morning before reaching shore with their wounded friend. Another refreshing bonus was the lack of any profanity or sexuality, making it completely suitable and safe for viewing in a church or youth group setting. At the very end of this book, Bethany talks about what has happened to her since the book came out. Instead of telling about her story, it told about different aspects of her life: her faith, her parents history, the movie that was made about her. Let me not forget Kevin Sorbo whom i have always loathed.
This should have been the story of committed surfer, Bethany Hamilton. This is such an amazing story that it's really hard to believe it actually happened! I'm hoping people will realize they can do anything, too. Am I so used to the manufactured bull that comes out of publishing companies and Hollywood that reality seems fake? Ever since Bethany was small and learning how to ride a surf board she was determined to become a professional surfer. Which made a stronger impression on you? The actor who acts as Bethany Hamilton, Anna Sophia Robb, is very talented. Given the nature of the attack, the film portrayal is not overly graphic, although the ocean water surrounding the young girl fills with blood following the amputation. I also liked how the flashbacks helped describe certain moments. He knew it was his little girl.
Bethany's story in itself is amazing and will never stop inspiring me or others across the globe. Now, her surfing, her biggest dreams and her life have become about pushing her own physical limits to touch the souls of others. It's encouraging to see such big Hollywood names doing such inspirational family fare without the inflated-sized salary demands. Bethany proves that a can-do attitude often leads to success -- and her true life story will give readers plenty to think and talk about. This courageous young woman took a personal tragedy and made it something meaningful and positive.
On the plus side The cinematography was great and the action shot enjoyable and well choreographed. The cast was great and Anna Sophia Robb was phenomenal. It took them some time to get her to the hospital after the attack, she had lost at least half of her blood, and she had to have two surgeries before she was allowed to leave the hospital. I am surprised that this made it all the way to the big screen, I would have put this as a Lifetime movie of the week, it has that level of story and acting. Both actors portray brothers that are truly dedicated to their family. She was so proud of herself.
